Since the Catstooth pattern was so much fun to stitch (and a great learning challenge for straight lines and french knots) I thought I would post it here if anyone else wanted to give it a go.
How I recommend it work is trace the black and white line art onto your fabric, and use that for the main body of the design. All the other details – eyes and tail – are over the top. Use the color image for your reference and guide.
Cords are a common part of Japanese embroidery motifs. It is a modified cross stitch that are stacked, creating a braid effect.
