Bullet Journal: Place’s We’ve Visited in Japan

January 12, 2018

Yesterday, I was in Oita and visited a couple of stationary stores. Journals, diaries and planners are a huge thing here, and one I was flipping through was interesting to me. It gave me some ideas on new pages to make for myself, including a map of where we’ve been.

Most maps I’ve seen are global maps, and since we would really only be able to check off “Japan” and “America” (I don’t consider a stopover in South Korea visiting), that seemed like a lame thing for me. However, I didn’t think to do a map of Japan until flipping through the book!

So, today, I pulled up a map on my laptop, and using it like a lightbox, traced out a map of the country with all of the prefectures!

Now, here’s the thing. If it’s not in the region of Kyushu, I have no idea where various Prefectures are. Like, none. I know Kyushu. And maaaaaybe a bit of Chugoku.

Since I obviously need to study more, I thought that would make a great addition, too. To kind of play the “at least know what region Akita is in” game. So I also listed out the prefectures and their respective regions.

Then, I went in and marked them. I really should have added the kanji for each of them, but really, I don’t trust my ability to hand write 滋賀 legibly. Or at all, for that matter. It does, however, make me really happy to live in Oita. Easiest kanji. 大分 totally first-grade kanji.

I plan on doing a detailed map of Kyushu, to mark all the places we have visited, but for now, here’s the few Prefectures we’ve visited in Japan! Hopefully, the next weekend that the weather is nice, we can look at it and go, “yeah, let’s go back there, it was cool!”

One of my few resolutions for this year is to at least get out of the house on the weekends, and visit somewhere, even if it’s just Naokawa or heck, even the harbor a few blocks away.

I’ll be making a printable of this map and list probably later today, for anyone who is living here or traveling that wants to keep track of it!

Also, some digital washi tapes will be up soon, I’ve been designing a few of them based off of Japanese motifs!
