Busy start to the week

August 29, 2017

This week has been rather busy so far, and it’s only Tuesday. My medicine still makes me really tired, so I’ve been trying to work around that when I can. I missed two festivals I really wanted to go to this weekend because of it.

Anyways, here’s today’s work: a new logo design for Lui~Lu.

Even designed it to have a hanko, or Japanese name stamp, styled design. I may actually get this one cut into a hanko for products, because why not?

So hopefully I can use these in some fun places all over the site and store and stuff. Just updated the facebook page for Lui~Lu, too.

On the sewing side of things, I’ve been busy.

Phoenix Laptop Bag

I cut up an obi I had bought to use for corsets, but since getting boning shipped to Japan is a pain, and I’m just considering setting up a wholesale account to be able to get it, I can’t really work on corsets. So, instead, I thought I’d use at least part of this to make a bag.

I love this one, and it’s the only one that’s going to be able to have the gradient part in addition to the pattern, since the gradient part is the part that wraps around the body and is usually hidden from view.

Furoshiki Purses

First, furoshiki are Japanese cloths for wrapping gifts, bentos, or pretty much anything. They’re usually really whimsical, and fit the season with traditional motifs or fun designs that represent things for that time of year in Japan.

Sakura Spring Bag

I had gotten a few of these this spring, having no idea what I was going to do with them. I just looooove sakura. Good thing I’m in Japan, since they’re everywhere.

I had enough to make two of these purses only, and I can’t get them any more until spring, when I might find them again.

Summer Festival Bag

These I just picked up, and I adore, because it’s basically the epitome of summer festivals. In Japan, just like in the US, you can win goldfish at festivals and they’re a common thing to see around (either real gold fish, or toy ones). The motifs on the peach side of the purse are common patterns for yukata that you wear in the summer, too, and I love the color.

This one is one of my favorite lately, and I may be able to get a few more of these until the summer is over. Sometimes, I love things being seasonal, and sometimes it’s the bane of my existence.

And more to come…

So that has been my Monday and Tuesday! Time for me to get sewing some more I think; I have all those kimono to take apart and turn into skirts too, as well as a whole stack of tenugui to start turning into more unique bags!
